The Area/Things to Do

There’s plenty for you to do and see in this lovely part of France whether you are looking for culture, activities or peace and tranquillity. Below is just a selection!

On the doorstep

Fishing: The river and lake in the village are popular and there are many more fishing spots nearby.

Cycling: You are welcome to borrow our bikes to explore and there are many well-marked cycle routes in the region.  The Voie Verte follows disused railways cross country and there are lovely cycle tracks along the Loire and Mayenne rivers.

Walking: You can even join a section of the pilgrims way which passes by a couple of kilometres away.

Painting and Photography: There’s plenty of beauty to capture in the architecture, wildlife and nature of the area.

Learn about ‘the good life’ in France – We have a fledgling aquaponics system and are growing our own fruit and vegetables.  We have chickens and ducks and are keen foragers.  We are happy to share what we have learned with you.

A Short Drive Away

Water Activities: There are a choice of swimming lakes, with and without water sports and activities, and indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools too.  Canoes, kayaks and pedalos can be rented on the lakes and rivers.

Horse riding/equestrian events – There are several equestrian centres around where you can arrange to go horse riding and regular horse racing at Senonnes and Lion d’Anger.

Antique and Curio Shopping – There are numerous brocantes and markets for you to browse and vides greniers (empty attic sales) take place in villages and towns across France from March to October.

Concerts, Exhibitions, Events, Festivals, Fetes and Fairs – We keep an eye on what’s taking place in the area and are happy to suggest things to see and do.

About an hour

Chateaus, Parks, Museums and Galleries: We are around an hour from the beautiful cities of Angers, Nantes and Rennes with their chateaus, parks, museums, galleries and more.

Vineyards and Wine Tasting – We are just north of the Loire Valley with its famous vineyards which are well worth a visit.  If you’d prefer not to drive yourself we can take you and you can enjoy sampling the wine without the worry of driving afterwards!

Beaches – The coasts of Southern Brittany and Loire Atlantique are easily accessible for a day at the sea.
